Meet Our Expert Music Tutor
Roger grew up playing music at a very young age in England, starting out on piano and guitar, but at various times also played flute, classical organ and percussion, before moving on to electric bass. In his youth, after achieving Grade 8 in four disciplines by the age of 13, he played in various jazz and blues bands, including with well known artists at the time, George Melly and Jools Holland. In his 20's he went to teach at the Royal Northern College of Music, and ran the big band at the University of Manchester. He then went touring as a professional session musician and was privileged to be invited to play with the likes of Bo Diddley, B.B. King, Shirley Bassey, Prince, Tony Christie, The Nolan Sisters, Bonnie Tyler, Robbie Williams and Leona Lewis. Roger also had stints as the resident pianist at the Bridgewater Hall and the Lowry Hotel. Most recently, Roger set up his own music agency, while continuing to tour internationally, and has also provided in-person music tuition to younger students at a music conservatoire in South London.
